Dr. Imo is a first-generation Nigerian-American who was raised in Pearland, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Houston. He left home in 2004 to pursue his dream of becoming a dentist by attending Howard University College of Dentistry. He went on to do his Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. After seven years of practicing in the Washington, DC area, Dr. Imo and his wife decided to move back to the Houston area with their 2 sons to be closer to his family in 2016. Since moving back to Texas, Dr. Imo and his wife have had their third son and now live in Friendswood, TX.

Dr. Imo is the co-founder of two nonprofits: Sleep Medicine Foundation and Teledentist 365 Foundation. He is also the founder of It’s All About Sleep and Imo Sleep Solutions, which are focused on treating people with sleep apnea.

He has been a deacon for more than two decades and is one of the kindergarten teachers in his son’s Sabbath School class. When he is not providing care for his patients, he enjoys running and spending time with his wife and kids.

Achievements

Dr. Imo is a member of the International Academy of Sleep (IAOS) and is a Diplomate in Sleep Medicine. He was a faculty member at the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, Maryland region, where he helped new doctors in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency. While at Choptank Community Health System in MD, he was a mentor for dental students. He is a member of the National Network for Oral Health Access and believes that everyone should have access to healthcare.

He is also a member of the American Dental Association. He has been fortunate to be a presenter for continue sharing knowledge about obstructive sleep apnea and the role respiratory therapists can play. As a healthcare provider, Dr. Imo advocates for leading a healthy lifestyle.

In 2016, Dr. Imo ran his first marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. Since then, he has participated in several charity runs and is an avid participant in the Chevron Houston Marathon. He looks forward to supporting other causes through his running.

Favorites

Dr. Imo enjoys reading topics related to spiritual growth, personal development, biographies, team building, and sports. One title he found enlightening was Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins. His favorite shows to watch on television include motivational speakers such as Jim Rohn, Ed Mylett, and Les Brown, to name a few. You will also catch him watching football with his three boys.
